Back to School: Organizing the Chaos!

It’s that time of year... Back-to-School is right around the corner so pack up the beach towels and coolers and get the backpacks and lunchboxes out!

Create a Functional Entry Space

Your entry space could be the best location to store/hide everyone’s stuff before it gets too far inside the house. If you have the space, place a bench right inside the door, for an easy spot to remove dirty shoes and sneakers. Make sure you have plenty of hooks for sweaters, jacket and backpacks. Place color coded bins for each family member to so that they get in the habit of storing things in one place. This makes running out the door in the morning easier.

Create a Designated Spot

Choose the place in your kitchen for kids snacks and breakfast on the go. Kids get in from school and are typically starving. Have a go-to drawer stocked with their favorite snack bars, fruit, cereal and drinks. If you have a mini fridge or fridge drawer, designate it to juice boxes and water bottles, kids can help themselves!

Create an Organized Laundry Room

A great way to accomplish order is to have four bins labeled into darks, lights, whites and extra dirty (those sports uniforms that need extra attention). Have everyone throw dirty clothes into the proper bin. This will save time not having to search under beds and in gym bags for clothes. Another time saving laundry tip, have a basket for each family member for clean clothes. Just fold them up and place in the appropriate bin and the work is done.

Create a Home HQ

Keep everyone running like a well-oiled machine by organizing a spot with a calendar, a place for mail, dry erase board, cork board, tacks, pens, pencils and note pads. This small area will be a big help in knowing who is where, as well as upcoming appointments and events.
